FALCONS REACH AGREEMENT WITH CITY
Falcons agree to three year lease to remain at Selland Arena
The Fresno Falcons Professional Hockey Team and the City of
Fresno have reached an agreement for the hockey team to play at Selland
Arena for the next three seasons, beginning in 1999-200 and lasting until
2001-02. The lease will be the longest arena deal in Fresno Falcons history.
The lease was approved by a 5-2 vote at todays City Council meeting.
Falcons General Manager Brian Viselli commented on todays events,
"Securing a three year lease is vital to the Falcon organization's
long term goals both on and off the ice. We are extremely appreciative of
the city of Fresno for its partnership and support. Without their support,
none of this would have been possible."
The 1999-2000 campaign will be the fifth season of professional
ice hockey in the Central Valley since the Falcons joined the West Coast
Hockey League in 1995 as a charter member.
Viselli further stated, "I am confident that the upcoming
seaon will be a tremendous stride in the right direction for the team. The
Falcons front office has taken huge steps forward in such areas as advertising,
promotions, giveaways and community relations to bring an outstanding form
of entertainment to the city of Fresno and the Central Valley community
for this and future seasons."
