FALCONS ROLL PAST ACES
Kris Porter Torches Anchorage for a Record Four Goals in Win

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons have played 476 games in their
eight-year history, and Kris Porter accomplished a feat that had only been
accomplished three other times. Porter tied team records with four goals
and five points as the Falcons cruised past the Anchorage Aces, 6-3, Sunday
evening at Selland Arena. Jason Weaver contributed a goal and a pair of
assists while Mark Gowan made 36 saves in his Falcons debut.

Porter got his night started early, scoring his first two goals in the first
3:22 of the hockey game. For Porter, last season's Taylor Cup Playoffs MVP,
it was his first two goals of the season. Austin de Luis gave the Falcons
a 3-0 lead midway through the frame with his first professional goal at the
12:43 mark of the first period.

With a 3-0 lead going into the second period, Porter finished off his hat
trick, and then some, adding two more goals within a span of 27 seconds. By
notching his fourth goal of the game, he became only the fourth Falcon in
the team history to score four goals in hockey game, and the first since
Brandy Semchuk did it on March 8, 1998. Porter, however, was not done
scoring. After Yvan Corbin finally put the Aces on the scoreboard, Porter
chipped in an assist on Weaver's power play goal midway through the hockey
game. With his fifth point of the game, Porter reached a mark that had only
been met by five other Falcons. Weaver's power play goal marked the team's
first this season, snapping a 0 for 20 slump. The Aces would add two more
goals in the second, as Corbin collected his second goal of the evening, to
round out the scoring.

The win moves the Falcons into a tie with the San Diego Gulls atop the West
Coast Hockey League standings at 3-1-0 and six points. The Gulls defeated
the Bakersfield Condors earlier in the evening to keep them tied with the
Falcons. Both teams hold a one point lead over the idle Idaho Steelheads.
The victory also makes Head Coach and General Manager Blaine Moore the
winningest coach in Falcons history with 107 wins, one better than former
head coach Guy Gadowsky.

The team now has a nine-day layoff before returning to the ice on Tuesday,
Oct. 29, to face the Gulls at 7 p.m. at Selland Arena. This will be the
first meeting of the season for these two long time rivals. Tuesday's game
will also be the first Two for Tuesday of the 2002-03 season, sponsored by
Carl's Jr., KRZR, and KMPH Fox 26. Fans can pick up their two for one
coupons at participating area Carl's Jr. restaurants. The Falcons will also
be wearing commemorative Halloween jerseys that night, which will be
auctioned off following the game. Tickets for all of the Falcons home games
are on sale now at the Selland Arena box office, all Ticketmaster locations,
or on-line at www.ticketmaster.com.
