FALCONS LOSE, 4-1
Club Drops Second Straight to Ice Dogs

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons, requiring the play of retired assistant
coach Greg Spenrath as an emergency player for the third game in a row to
aid an injury depleted roster, dropped their second straight game to the
Long Beach Ice Dogs on Friday, 4-1, in front of a crowd of 4,920 at Selland
Arena.

The Ice Dogs snapped a 0 for 31 slide on the power play against the Falcons
this year when newcomer and former Fresno captain Craig Lyons ripped a
slapshot past Terry Friesen at 8:39 of the first period for his fourth goal
in as many games in a Long Beach jersey.

Down 1-0 heading to the second and getting out-played badly in the middle
frame, Fresno still managed to tie the game at one after Scott Borders was
sprung on a break-away and converted his 14th of the season at 15:03.
Exactly one minute later Long Beach's Pat Brush took advantage of the
Falcons' inability to clear the zone and notched the eventual game-winner
from right on the doorstep, giving the Ice Dogs a 2-1 lead.

J.P. O'Connor would add two goals in the third period for Long Beach,
including an empty-netter with 14 seconds to play for the final 4-1 margin.
The Ice Dogs' victory follows their 2-1 win on Tuesday night at Selland
Arena after Fresno won the first six games of the season series.

The defeat marked the first time since mid-December that the Falcons have
lost two games in a row in regulation and drops their record to 22-15-5.
They remain in fourth place in the WCHL with 49 points, four points behind
both the San Diego Gulls and Bakersfield Condors, who are tied in second.

Fresno and Long Beach conclude a three-game set tomorrow night at Selland at
7:30 p.m. The first 1,500 kids will receive a Greg Spenrath kids t-shirt
jersey. Tickets are still available at the Selland box office, all
Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.com.
