BARRIE SCORES FOUR IN FALCONS VICTORY
Fresno Wins Fifth Straight Away from Home, 4-2

ANCHORAGE - Falcons center Mike Barrie tied a franchise record with four
goals on Wednesday night in a 4-2 win against the Anchorage Aces at Sullivan
Arena in front of a crowd of 2,623.

Barrie tallied three of his four in the first period, including an
unassisted short-handed goal to open the scoring. That goal came at 8:12,
and he followed with his second at 9:47. Dean Larson notched his 21st of
the year to cut Fresno's lead to 2-1 two minutes later, but Barrie gave his
club a two-goal cushion heading to the second by completing the hat trick at
17:46.

The teams were scoreless in the second period and when B.J. Young scored on
the power play at 8:08 of the third, it was a brand new hockey game with
Fresno's lead cut to 3-2. Barrie would provide the Falcons with some much
needed insurance with just 2:37 to play, taking a pass from Kevin Haupt
before beating Anchorage goaltender Ryan Person for the fourth time for the
4-2 final margin.

The four goals equal the team record, which has been achieved on four other
occasions, including by Kris Porter earlier this season against the Aces on
Oct. 20 at Selland Arena. Mark Gowan was solid in net for Fresno, stopping
26 of 28 to pick up his seventh victory of the year.

The win moves Fresno to within two points of the third-place Bakersfield
Condors with a record of 20-13-5 and 45 points. The club has now won five
straight away from Selland Arena to get back to .500 on the road at 8-8-2.

The Falcons and Aces square off again on Friday and Saturday at Sullivan
Arena before Fresno returns home for a three-game set against the Long Beach
Ice Dogs beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 28. All of the play-by-play from Friday
and Saturday's games can be heard live on 103.1 FM, The Mountain Cat.
