FALCONS BLANK ICE DOGS
Friesen Breaks Franchise Shutout Mark

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Falcons goaltender Terry Friesen stopped all 17
shots he faced on Sunday as Fresno shutout the Long Beach Ice Dogs, 1-0, in
front of a crowd of 8,232. The shutout was Friesen's second of the season
and fifth of his Falcons career, breaking the franchise record he shared
with former Falcon Jeff Ferguson.

Despite getting outshot, 18-3, in the first period, Long Beach netminder
B.J. Boxma kept his team in the game and the teams were scoreless heading to
the second. The Falcons began the second on the power play when Mike Barrie
fed Cory Murphy cross-ice, who beat Boxma with a wrist shot for his sixth of
the year at 2:02.

That one goal was all Friesen would need. His previous shutout this season
was also a 1-0 whitewash of the Ice Dogs back on Dec. 7 at Selland Arena.
The former third-round draft pick of the San Jose Sharks recorded a Falcons
record three shutouts in his first season with the club during the 2000-01
campaign.

The victory helps Fresno keep pace with the Bakersfield Condors, who
defeated the Idaho Steelheads tonight, 5-3. The Falcons are 19-13-5 with 43
points, four points behind the Condors and third place.

This game concluded a five-game home stand on which the Falcons went 3-1-1.
They now head to Anchorage to face the Aces on Wednesday, Friday and
Saturday of next week. All three games can be heard live on 103.1 FM, The
Mountain Cat, beginning with the Mail Boxes, Etc. Pre-game Show at 7:50 p.m.
PST each evening.
